The Little School lives up to its name. Compared to state requirements, we're extraordinarily small. That means every child gets the time and attention they need to grow. It also means that teachers know your child well and have the ability to share all the details of their life at school—what they eat, who they play with and how they feel.

Opportunities for Exploration

Children have a chance to explore all sorts of special programs at The Little School. We have dedicated art, science, music, gardening, Spanish and yoga programs. Our students are exposed to endless options for discovery and curiosity.

Art every day

The children explore a different art project and theme daily. Our young artists make some amazing creations—both as a group and during self-directed play time.

Spanish

Our preschoolers learn and explore Spanish language with an on-staff Spanish speaker.

Science

We love to tap into the naturally curious minds of our little learners with hands-on experiments. Time is set aside for science on a weekly basis, but discovery is—of course—ongoing.

Gardening & Nature

Our front yard is built into the curriculum. Children grow vegetables and herbs. They learn about the flowers and pick them when they bloom. We work to build both a love and understanding of nature.

Music

Singing and instrumental play are woven into many parts of our day, especially morning circle time.

Yoga

We have weekly yoga class with a wonderful professional yoga teacher whose focus is working with children.

Geography

One day of every week has a geography focus. We learn about other parts of the world through books, music, language and more.

Reading

We read to the children. We read with them, and many of our preschoolers even read to us.

An Environment Built for Imagination

Our entire school was designed to encourage imagination. Rather than building a traditional playground, we built structures that support physical and creative play. Children chase each other around our gazebo, and they also imagine it as a castle, house, or store.

Symbolic play helps our children learn to negotiate, listen, share, take turns, and respect their friends' feelings, thoughts, ideas, and physical space . Young children have astounding imaginations. We built a school that nurtures invention and works for quiet and rambunctious children alike.
